self-immolation as a form of protest

On a related note once a person is fully engulfed in a fire that has been fueled by flammable liquid it may be the greatest cruelty to douse them with water. 3rd degree burns over the majority of the torso may be unrecoverable and condemns the victim to an aftermath of a living hell.
Yeah they should not put them out... wtf are they thinking.

Also someone needs to take it the opposite direction and protest by pouring a bunch of liquid nitrogen on themselves
We live in a society where the seemingly only way to share a message that gets a big attention is to harm yourself.
it is certainly the most extreme form of protest. But it was obviously his choice to do that, and it has garnered worldwide attention to the cause he died for. I thought his statement was very persuasive--roughly, if you've ever wondered how you would have reacted to a genocide being carried out, how you would have reacted to slavery in the south, the answer is simple. it's how you are reacting to the genocide being carried out in Gaza right now.

Not to be callous, or to take away from this plight,

But this was has not been the bloodiest, or most massive culling of innocents in the last ?? Put out whatever time frame, we have been witnessing genocide or war after war forever- people are acting like this is the only one that's happened since ww2 or something, well. It seems most people totally ignored or were completely ignorant of the others

Don't see anyone trying to protect or bring attention to the Royhinga, or any other numerous atrocities ongoing right now really... so if you wondered how you'd respond to genocide you already did... and you like many others likely did nothing and that doesn't make you bad, because it's impossible to do everything for every tragedy that happens.

whatever this means. this is the largest genocide the US has funded since the second Iraq War--btw the Rohinga genocide, like the US genocide in Iraq, is directed against Muslims. The citizens of the US, like the citizens of Myanmar, are the most effective opponents of their government's murderous policies. The genocide in Gaza isn't just "a tragedy that happens". It is a tragedy that the US is supporting, by direct aid, by misusing its veto power at the UN, and by spreading the barrage of lies that Israel uses to justify its war crimes---40 beheaded babies, mass sexual assaults by Hamas on Oct 7, and the like. both parties in the US are on board with these policies, which have killed almost 30,000 Palestinians (with another few thousand never located under the rubble) in an historically brief period of time.if the genocide proceeds at this rate, it will surpass even the US genocide in Vietnam. The US could end this genocide quickly, by immediately cutting off aid to Israel. Ending the genocide by Myanmar does not seem to be a US priority either, but at any rate US citizens and particularly US voting age citizens can do the most good by opposing the 2 major parties, primarying the biggest war and genocide supporters, and constantly keeping the pressure on.

Not sure killing others before committing suicide is less extreme.
