Cheaters are killing lichess : a systemic problem

We could consider restricting playing rated games in a similar manner; you would have to play unrated for a certain number of games (or time), before being able to rated games.

I'm not sure if I would support this though.
I see the issue of chess cheaters,Engine users, mutiable accounts etc. Question...Can these people be identified through their I.P. address and banned via that? Its a shame these people ruin it for those who want to earn their ratings using their brains only.
About tournament cheating : I think a limited access is necessary. If you want to participate in tournament you must play an appropriate amount of rated games.

Example: Blitz tournament : 150 rated games needed
Standard tournament : 75 rated games needed

Who will want to play the amount of games to cheat in the tournament?

This does not solve the problem of cheating but reduce the number of cheating players.
Dunno why this is even being discussed. Proposing this, that, or the other... it is simply down to what the mods want to do.

Some of us said for a YEAR that there ought to be email verification - and that was soooo resisted. I can't imagine how many years it'd take to get this kind of idea through!
#32: IP banning is one of many tools in the moderator toolbox. It is used when appropriate.
#34: Ideas and feedback is helpful for the moderators and developers of lichess. We appreciate it.
Closing the post for inflammatory and literally false title.
