Temporary ban for aborting games

@IllianMTG Come on, that's not going to fool anyone! Admit it - you were firing up no fewer than four engines so there was no way you were going to lose! :)
@GSP0113
>You're being way too suspicious, in my opinion. I just played someone who took forever to make that first move -- probably 25 seconds, as it was coming down to the wire -- and then made all sorts of blunders and lost the game. Obviously not using any kind of assistance.

Yes, that's a possibility, but in genetal I think it is the exception (loss of connectivity, receiving a call/mail, any unexpected trouble, tea and biscuits..) not the rule

> Some people have a habit of checking out a potential opponent's profile before moving. Maybe they're taking a deep cleansing breath to get the taste of their last defeat out of their mouth before starting. Or taking a teabag out of the tea they just fixed for this game. Or whatever.

I also hypothised this, but again, this seems reveal some incoerence in a game: Why let your opponent waiting e.g. 25 seconds, in a phase of the game where there's no need of pondering?

> Bottom line: Taking 5 or more seconds to make the first move is by no means indicative of cheating and by aborting games because players don't move immediately, you're damaging the atmosphere of the website. I think you received a ban for good reason and I hope you re-think what you've been doing.

The TB was for having aborted a sequence of several games. I moved, designed a circle in the chessboard with my finger, then I tapped the menu, read "Abort game", my opponent still didn't move, and eventually I tapped what I had read.

I think it would be useful focusing on the possibility of such a lag at 2th move. In this case I wonder who may consider e.g. a 20 seconds delay something unsuspicious.. particularly in bullet/blitz games..

Obviously in rapid>+ games the spectre of cheating is inalienable, being able to be realized at any time of the match..

Cheating is in my opinion a nuisance of any chess site, but this fortunately doesn't kill completely the pleasure and fun of challenging chess players all over the workd
There's plenty of reasons to take your time at the 1st and 2nd move... deciding what opening to go for or how to respond without falling into a trap or something. I often ponder whether to take the pawn after 1. d4 c5 because it can get tricky.

You're being highly unreasonable. Assuming people are taking time at the 1st and 2nd moves (when it's pretty easy to play on your own without ever needing engine assistance) is straight up ridiculous.
How many aborts does it take to get the initial play-ban, and how long does that ban last? If I may ask... I didn't see an answer in the FAQ or Terms of Service.
Please let the mods decide who is cheating. You can stop the games, but you will be banned, i think that's fair. Both players have time to start, if it is too slow for you, go play ultra. I don't understand the point of your complain.
This feature has been this way for a long time and in my opinion, there is no point in trying to change it.

Unless you can find a viable excuse and thibault and the moderators accept it otherwise don't base yourself on that

4 second rule because it is the wrong way of thinking. I play a lot of racing kings and sometimes I create a game and wait a long

time before someone accepts the game. So, in the meantime, I do something else in another tab and by the time I notice it is

my turn, about 5-10sec have passed. That is just me and as the others have said, there could be any possibility for taking more

than 4 seconds.
