Really interesting read - IM Greg Shahade: "Slow Chess should die a fast death"!

"Now wait you might tell me, “I really do love to play slow chess, and so do all of my friends”. I have an answer for you: “No you don’t”."

Ehm... Yes i do? Please tell me more about my likes and dislikes Mr. Shahade. I am an adult! I am allowed to play The Sims™ if I want.

Oh man... the article actually gets increasingly stupid as you read on..... TLDR: People play blitz online. Shahade is too busy for long game. Naka - Caruana was boring. Conclusion: Chess needs to die.

Ok I started reading the article, and I think Greg was smoking some good stuff while writing it.
And I stopped reading after he said Carlsen would 'absolutely demolish Alekhine even giving 2 hours to 30 min odds.'
Makes no sense to bring up this fantasy match up, obviously it's all relative. Alekhine didn't have todays theory etc..etc..
Ridiculous article.
Man, I cannot stand/ tolerate and I mean I HATE being told what I should like or not

But, @lovlas
You are allowed to play the sims
But only in the fast forward option
the future of sims is the gameplay lasting 10 minutes, then the sims universe explodes recreating a new one.

Plot twist#2: we are sims characters being played by another being
Also interesting how he compares chess to sports like football and basketball, but doesn't compare chess to poker which he indicates to play in his blog description.

You can easily spend 6 hours for an online poker tournament and if you only spend that a night, you aren't earning money. Normal cash game sessions last 8+ hours, 10 hours is normal. Some people grind 10 hours online before they come to the casino for a 6 hour cash game.

So how is this acceptable to him in poker but not in chess?
looks like he got some serious negative feedback on his own page.
Maybe it's a publicity stunt
Oh wow, just noticed that Gergs writings are from 2015, I hope Greg doesn't see this and go over the edge for still getting feedback :D
It really is interesting to see how sensitive some people are about this.

They are not even a high level chess players, and all they do is play fast chess and yet they get so emotional and upset because of this article.

Feel free to discuss it further.
