After game messages

It happens to me a lot that after a game is finished, my opponent automatically leaves the game. If we were playing head to head we would at least shake hands, but as we are playing online the least we could do is send a "Good game". We are not playing a bot or AI, we playing another human being. I would really like the Lichess community to be a little more human, commenting a little on the game would be the best, but I know we don't always have time fot that.

Do you feel the same?
If we played head to head we would have to travel and make time and plan, putting a lot of effort in. Online all you do is click a button. Etiquette is different.
yes i do feel the same....to me, i don't really like online gaming just because you cant see the face or voice or even feel the presence of other human being,so to me, it is almost better to play only against the bots. That way i know that bot will punish me for my mistakes and the evaluation will be closer to my truer form....what i mean is, you could play a horrid game and a human opponent blunders something and you win.you feel so good that you won that you miss the fact that you played bad chess, only the other human played worse than you.

And i would like to have more interaction with other people after the match, the best would be something of a video conference call. you laugh, exchange ideas and thoughts and then that game means something.this way, it is the same if i played against a man online or a bot offline.
I agree, but players are often upset after games so you can't be too critical.
It would be great to have group chat in the lobby like they do the tournaments, then you could actually chat with your recent opponents and perhaps future opponents. I don't know why Lichess does not do this as it would be fantastic.

There are around 50,000 Players at any given time, so having a one huge chat available to all of them could be a problem.

I exactly feel the same ! Some users leave automaticly and they don't even respond when you say good game, and some just decline the rematch and leave immediatly, but this is what it is, just don't forget that it's better to play chess IRL, including joining clubs and tournaments etc.. as you can't see opponent face, voice, or everything online
This is the first time I write on the forum, I didn't expect to find so many answers in such a short time, so thank you all for taking the time to read and share your thoughts.

For what I can see we all agree that playing chess in real life is way better, but Lichess gives us the opportunity to play at any time and without having to spend time traveling, looking for someone to play with or even set up a board. Which is really awesome but we lose the human touch.

What we can do is keep saying hello before and gg-ing our opponents after playing, and try to spread the word.
But if it is merely a ritual, it ceases to be "the human touch" entirely. ;)

Also (as has often been pointed out here) GG after a silly/undeserved win can easily be taken as being snide.
I've played on Lichess for many years and at different times tried different responses at the end of games. Now I've come to the perspective that the easiest thing for me, and most likely for my opponent is to just leave immediately. So, that is what I do 99.9% of the time now.
